Team Building, That Entertains.

October 7, 2021

Every successful business owner knows human resources (people) are vital in the success of their business. Simply put, a work team can either make or mar the company. When people are motivated and enjoy their work, they are more eager to see the business succeed.

So, how do successful companies keep their staff motivated and happy? It’s by creating team-building activities that do not only motivate them but are entertaining. By definition, team-building is the action or process of causing a group of people to work together effectively as a team, especially using activities and events designed to increase motivation and promote cooperation. Motivation, cooperation, and happiness are not the only benefits of team-building activities.

Some of the other benefits of team building are:

  • Better communication
  • Increased productivity
  • Improved morale
  • Identification of leadership qualities
  • Encouragement of creativity
  • Increase in confidence among team members
  • Improved mental health and physical health
  • Increased trust, respect, responsibility, and lots of fun.

Having established the benefits of team building. Let’s look at some examples of team-building games that entertain.

The Barter Puzzle

This game enhances teamwork while allowing the participants to have loads of fun. It takes 20 minutes and needs 9 to 25 participants. The teams can be in groups of four or five people. Each group gets a different jigsaw puzzle, and members have to strategize, assign roles, and barter with other teams to get the pieces they need to complete their puzzle. This game is excellent for strengthening negotiation and strategizing skills.

Electric Fence

This activity takes 20 minutes and takes 5 to 15 people to play. It requires a shoestring, rope, or pole. The goal is to get the entire team to cross over the electric fence without touching it. You can create the fence by tying a rope or shoe string to two chairs and other objects.

Then the team members will go over one at a time without touching the fence. This activity makes people brainstorm, solve problems, and put their plans into action. It also requires excellent communication and trust.

Reverse Charades

This activity takes 30 minutes to conclude, and it needs 4 to 20 participants divided into teams. You need a smart device, a reverse charade app, or a board game. Each team gets 60 seconds to act out as many words as possible while only one person guesses. Communication is critical in this activity. In addition, while the team members have fun, they also get to develop valuable work skills.

Murder Mystery Theater

While the games discussed above need to be organized in person, the murder mystery theater is different. It is a virtual theater event that provides teams with problem-solving experiences. What’s more? It’s dynamic, engaging, and above all, fun.

This activity helps to mold teams into solid and cohesive groups within realistic, simulated scenarios. It will cause them to think critically, strategize together, and improvise when needed. So, how do you get the murder mystery theater?
